ROAD TRIP!
It was a beautiful day on Tuesday. We got a lot done in the gardens and decided to visit our son, lovely daughter-in-law and sweet granddaughter. Such a gorgeous day I took some pictures of our very small village on the way.
This was a railroad running through the village right across the back of our property. It is now the Rail Trail which you can walk or ride across part of our Province.
Until around 12 years ago this was our General Store. It was the hub of the village. After changing hands several times and being left empty, it was turned into a residence, I really miss that store, there are no shops left in the village now.
We have a lot of lovely historical homes here. Many, like mine, are wood frame but a few a large brick like this one right on the corner of the village. There was a funeral home, hotel and a mill over 100 years ago but they are long since turned into homes.
I love it here. We are surrounded by open farm land. Lots of fields and rolling hills.
This is one of my favourite farms. They used to raise my adorable Jersey cows. They were adorable and so curious and gentle. They sold them a few years ago and now just raise regular dairy cattle and the most beautiful work horses which they show.
It was getting close to milking time and this very pregnant mommy and her calf were headed up to the barns.
I just love this time of year with all of the new babies. Here is a mother and her adorable baby. She is around a month old.
This little guy realized everyone was leaving and made a run for the barn.
Off they go and off we go. Perfect day for a nice drive.
Finally put some new things of 13 MOCKINGBIRDS and finished the garden on LUCYS GARDEN pop over for a peek.

FROZEN TREATS ARE NOT JUST FOR KIDS! OH A GIVEAWAY TOO!
The heat has lifted a little today. We have a nice breeze and we are suppose to get some rain. I hope so because my Heirloom Veggie Garden is finally finished! My little babies are planted firmly in their new beds. I will be posting the garden on LUCYS GARDEN today.
It was so hot yesterday that I had a couple of popsicles while I was looking at Pinterest. I do love Pinterest. There is so much more on there than just photographs. Lots of recipes, which I love. I came across some great ideas for Adult Popsicles or Poptails, like the delicious Blueberry Cheesecake ones above. Here are the ones I want to try.
Look at these BOURBON BUTTERSCOTCH LATTES yummmm!
And these MUDSLIDES. I can taste them now.
These RASPBERRY CAIPIRINHA look so refreshing.
Oh, the ROOT BEER FLOATS are so nostalgic and delicious looking.
I must say that these DIRTY PIRATES are the ones I am going to make first. I will replace the Coke with Pepsi.
Dirty Pirate Popsicle
2 1/2 cups Coke
1/3 cup Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
1/3 cup Kahlua
Instructions:
Place all ingredients in a large glass and stir to combine. Pour mixture into popsicles mold.
Freeze for about 2 hours or until mixture starts to solidify enough to hold a popsicle stick upright. Insert popsicle sticks and finish freezing popsicles overnight. To release popsicles run hot water on the outside of popsicle molds for a 2-3 seconds.
*Slightly flat Coke will produce a popsicle that stays frozen longer. To quickly and manually flatten out the carbonation, empty out enough Coke from a 2-liter bottle to leave a 3-inch space from top of bottle to top of coke. Place cap back on and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Set aside to leave bubbles to subside.
This delicious frozen treat recipe as well as all of the others and many more are at ENDLESS SIMMER. So why not try something new this summer. They are quick and easy and fun.
One more thing before I go. Mina the lovely GREEN WITCH WITH SPRINKLES is hosting a Giveaway from My Memories Digital Scrapbooking. Stop over and enter via the button on my sidebar or on the link above.

I'M MELTING!!!!!!!!
It is a scorcher here in Southern Ontario. Unusual for this time of year. It hit 33 degrees celsius today that is 96 degrees fahrenheit. Wooooo!
Everyone is drinking lots of water.
It is actually too hot to eat ice cream but the dogs don't care about that.
My amazing husband insisted on finishing filling the new Organic Heritage Veggie garden boxes today so we could get them planted. Me, I am just trying to keep cool. I am bringing him lots of cold drinks and I think at the end of the day he deserves one of these.
This is a delicious, cold Rum Clementine Granita, yummy, from MY BAKING ADDICTION blog.
So I hope you are all keeping cool. The dogs, by the way, have their own air conditioned room, we don't even have that!

A NEW NAME & A NEW HAIRDO!
Well, we have had our girl for 5 days now and as you can see she has fit in just beautifully. We have given her a new name. Dixie is now Daisy. I just really like the name and thought if she is having a new start she might has well have a new name. She already comes to it because it is pretty close sounding. I actually wanted to call our next female dog Ophelia but my husband never would have gotten it right so Daisy it is which means "white flower".
I can usually only get pictures of Daisy on the fly now. She runs all over the farm with Rufus and on her own. She is very good at coming when she is called and knows what the word NO means, thank you Kelly for that.
As you know our girl is a Great Pyrenees and Retriever cross. Her coat is definately Pyrenees and quite thick. The weather here as been unusually hot for May and poor Daisy is feeling it. Since she is going to be spayed in a week I wanted to get her coat trimmed down.
The wonderful Kelly came to the rescue. Kelly is the lovely lady who brought Daisy to us through RESCUE DOGS MATCH. She has know Daisy most of her doggy life and has taken care of her. Thanks to her Daisy is a dream to walk on a lead and knows the meaning of the word NO. Kelly was nice enough to come out this morning and give Daisy a new hairdo. At first she was a little leary of the sound of the clippers but then she settled down. Knowing Kelly was doing the clipping really helped her. I think she looks lovely. Great job Kelly, I can't thank you enough and neither can Daisy.
Rufus thought she looked pretty good too. He likes it because it is easier to grab her now when they play. It was not long that they were off and running.
Daisy and Rufus have been running around likes puppies this afternoon. Without that bag of fur she was carrying ( and yes, it was a bag of fur) she is so fast that Rufus has trouble catching her. It is nice seeing Daisy being a puppy after all she is only 1 1/2 years old.
Thank you for my new hairdo Kelly....hugs Daisy.
Just one more little thing today. FRENCH COUNTRY COTTAGE blog is having a fabulous Giveaway for this beautiful book on Scandinavian Interiors by Nina.
It is so gorgeous. You have a chance to win 1 of 3 signed copies. Click onto to link or go to my sidebar but hurry it ends the first week of June.
