I AM CANADIAN!

Tomorrow is my beautiful Canada's 146th. Birthday.  For a country she is just a teenager.  I am very proud to be Canadian.  For those of you who are not Canadian and for some that are, I want to dedicate this post as a love letter to my country and here are some things you may not know about the 2rd. largest country in the world.

We are not just known for Tim Horton's coffee, our pretty colourful money, being the politest people on the planet (just don't push us) , Beavers and great beer, although that is all good stuff.

Despite having a Conservative government in power (for now!) we are a very Liberal country with Medical Marijuana laws and one of the 10 countries in the world to recognize Gay Marriage.

We have FREE Health Care!  I don't know what we would do without that.  Our Health Care System was created by Tommy Douglas who is the father of actress Shirley Douglas, former father-in-law of Donald Sutherland, one of the world's finest actors, and grandfather of Kiefer Sutherland.

We are a country bursting at the seams with talented people.  Walter Pidgeon, Mary Pickford, the original Tonto, Jay Silverheels, Faye Ray the first love of King Kong, boy she was really beautiful.  We are very funny too just look at John Candy and Dan Ackroyd.  For even more talent you should check out the Canadian Actors Page on Pinterest.

I could go on forever about the Directors, writers, technicians, effects artists, makeup artist, all fabulous and many Award Winning (including my own gorgeous son who has won an Emmy.)

And we're not bad looking either.  Some of the most photographed models and actors are homegrown.

We don't just produce musicians we have produced legends.  Some of the most memorable lyrics that define the 60's and 70's have come from Neil Young and Joni Mitchel.  Tragically Hip are our true Canadian boys, they're lyrics tell our story.

Although just a figurehead in Canada now we do love our dear Queen.

We have mountains, lakes (Great Ones!), really big trees, Niagara Falls, and yes, snow.  Doesn't this look like a quaint little town in Europe, nope, it is Quebec.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for a look at the hundreds of things that have come out of our great country check out this amazing article The Hamilton Spectator put out for Canada Day.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY my dear sweet Canada, we love you and all you stand for.

FRESH DECORATING!

Like an open window on a summer's day, I love the look of white country decor.

Worn white wood furniture, pine floors, painted floors everything looks fresh and welcoming.

The Scandinavian's do it best.  With all of those dark winter days they decorate in whites to bring in the sun.  I adore the look of raw pine against the warm whites.

Raw floors look amazing with the white.  I adore industrial lighting too and old warm metal pieces.  Gorgeous!

BE A FRIEND!

Hi everyone, hope you are having a nice week so far.  Just a few things today.  First, RESCUE DOGS MATCH  Facebook Page could really use some Followers.  They would like to start to have online auctions for the dogs on Facebook but the Follower Base is very small.  Pop on over and please Like them and tell you friends too.

I added some new things to my Etsy Shop WICKED FAERIE QUEEN today.  I have been working on some real nice Tarot Card Bags.  Each one has a special Blessing sewn inside.

I also made some lovely brass pieces.  The Faerie Watch Necklace is my favourite.  The little Faerie is holding a jewel in her arms.  The Charm Bracelets are very sweet too.  NIce charms and Blessing Bells.

Hope you all have a nice day tomorrow and nice weather.  My positive energy is sent to all of you in flooded areas in Western Canada, please be safe.

LET'S HAVE A PICNIC!

I spent the yesterday with my little doll.  Mommy and Daddy dropped her off with me for the day and we had a great time.  She is a 2 1/2 year old firecracker!  She loves the farm, so much for her to see.  She really liked the gazebo even though it is still unfinished, she loved to go inside and sit and watch the birds.

I know that she will love it when we start to do picnics together.  The whole family or even just the two of us.  When I was little, staying with my grandparents all summer, my grandmother would say "Let's have a picnic" and off we would go.  We would pack a basket with whatever we could find, make lemonade and head out to the farmers field.  We always set up lunch on a couple of bales of hay and ate amongst the cows.  They were very good guests.

Sometimes, when our grandfather was home on holidays or weekends off, we would pack the car and just stopped wherever we found a nice spot and spend the day enjoying the summer weather.  I treasure those memories so much.

This summer I will start that tradition again with my little sweetheart.  With so many nooks and crannies on the farm we can set off with our basket and have a ball.  I think from now on when the family is all here we are going to picnic out in the fields for lunch and dinner too.  There is nothing nicer than sitting at a table outside with you family, it makes the food taste better.  I can start to make some special cakes ,  I know she will love the Bee Cake, I can't wait.
