SIMPLE LIVING!
This pretty much says it all about what it was like at my house yesterday. All of my furry babies slept most of the snowy, cold day. My husband watched movies, I cleaned my office. I did venture out for an hour to post some packages and stop by our local farmers market. When I say local I mean around the corner. That is what I love about country life, if I need eggs they are just a farm away. In the summer I am surrounded by produce farms. There is nothing like getting you corn on the cob right out of the field.
Our local market just got in a new batch of laying hens. They do this every January and give the older hens to local small farmers who keep them for laying just for themselves, no lives lost.
Because they are still so young the hens lay eggs a little smaller. I love them, they are perfet and very delicious. And a real bargain at $2.50 for 2 dozen. I like that I can pop over there first thing in the morning and my eggs are just laid. If you are near any farms that offer fresh eggs I highly recommend them. I would pay 3 times as much for the quality of these beauties.
There is still plenty of time to enter my VALENTINES GIVEAWAY. I am adding some more surprise goodies to the package so go to the post to enter.
It's been years since I've been able to get fresh eggs straight from the hen and not the store. I agree really fresh eggs are the best. It stopped snowing here but then the rains started and it looks like they're going to be with us for a good long time. I think I liked the snow better. At least it was pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave a warm and wonderful weekend.
Oh how I remember gathering fresh eggs for breakfast at my Grandmothers when I was young, nothing better I miss living in the country and being able to buy fresh eggs from folks
ReplyDeleteBrenda
We've bought fresh eggs from a little farm down the road and are they tasty! So much better than the store eggs. People don't realize it until
ReplyDeletetaste the fresh ones.
Hugs,

I love collecting my food from Farmer's Markets and local farmers as well. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I don't care what anyone says...you can tell a Huge difference between these products and what you purchase in the stores, even when they say things like "organic" or "grown local".
ReplyDeleteYour cats look so content and beautiful. I am off to do exactly what they are doing in that lovely picture. Hugs to you, my dear friend.
