FARM LIVIN" IS THE LIFE FOR ME!

I wake up every morning to the sounds of the birds singing and the sun shining through the windows. I love living on a farm in the middle of farm country. This time of year is so incredibly beautiful here. Everything is growing, baby animals are filling the fields. I just love it. The only thing I wish was different is to have a longer summer.

The sun makes the garden look so magical in the mornings. I had to take some packages to the post office in the neighbouring village so I thought I would take you on a tour of where I live. Bye Daisy, back soon.

These are my neighbours. Daisy sees them through the fence and is not happy about them at all.

We are surrounded by some lovely old barns. It is so nice to see such openess, I really do dread driving in the city. You never know who you will meet in the country. This cute little guy is one of three adorable ponies across from our farmers market.

Now off to the village.

This village, which is about 10 minutes from me, has some lovely old homes. Both villages were settled over 200 years ago. When we moved here our village had a General Store, which has since closed. Here, until a few years ago, there was a Co-op, Hardware Store, Bank, Post Office, Garage and General Store. Now all that is left is the Post Office and the General Store, even the Garage no longer sells gas. It is sad, the school closed there to, which is where our son went. He went to Kindergarden in our village at the Old School House which has also closed. Very sad really.

There is a main road in the village with little side streets off of it and one small country road running behind. I just love this road. It is where the school was and there are no sidwalks just quaint houses. It reminds me of Northern Ontario cottage country.

On the way out of the village we pass an old church with a lovely steeple.

I stopped at our Farmer's Market for some fresh eggs and strawberries. Our strawberries have just come into season this week. This is the side of the Market. Lovely pond.

They grow most of their own produce here so you know it is fresh everyday. My eggs usually have a few little feathers on them, now you cannot get fresher than that.

This was an old school that was convertated into a lovely home.

Back home, I have said we have a lot of trees. Nice though, keeps it cool and the air fresh.

Hi Daisy, told you I wouldn't be long.

Isn't she adorable. Rufus was off digging a hole somewhere and when he does that he will not come to me for even a treat.

Here are the delicious eggs and strawberries.

This just makes me smile. I hope you have enjoyed your trip with me today. If you can you should buy local produce and dairy, it really makes a difference.

  4. You live in a very pretty area. I love the old properties, they have so much character. We are very lucky in our village to still have a general store, the Post Office and the butchers. We also have a farm around the corner, where we can get fresh produce. There may not be the variety of the supermarkets, but sometimes they nip out back to pick some especially for you!

  5. Love, love, love this post!!!! Such beautiful pictures. The Village is really adorable and makes me think about how life was there years ago and imagining children outside playing and the chores of everyday life being tended to by the ladies of those beautiful homes. Ahhhhh, but the country life is for me too. But if one has to drive to "town", you could not ask for a more quaint town to drive to. Have a beautiful day my friend.

  6. I always do my best to buy locally. And my favourite place to eat out shops at the same fruit and veg place I do (right across from them).

  7. Thank you so much for taking me along with you today. It wass lovely! ;-)

I work in the city and when I get closer to home, which is far away in the country, I can literally feel the stress and tension leave my body. The wide open spaces filled with trees, bushes and wildflowers rather than pavement and buildings is nourishment to my soul. How I wish I could work from home or become independently wealthy. Then I may never go anywhere. Hugs sweetie!
