AN EVENING WALK THROUGH THE GARDEN!

What a magical night it was in the garden. The sun was setting and I was enjoying the cows gathering for their evening graze. It had been a very hot day and the air was lifting the heat just enough to make the night enjoyable. The front gardens were lit with the magic of the approaching night. I was lucky enough to capture some of it on film before the sun quickly descended behind the barns.

Good Tuesday everyone! As of yesterday, I have a new camera and I can see clearer now. I love my little Canon digital but I was ready to move up. After asking a lot of questions of fellow bloggers with great pics I decided on the Canon Rebel. For the next few days I will be posting shots I have taken around our home. I have been walking the property just clicking away. I hope you like them.

A DELIGHTFUL COUNTRY DRIVE

We were driving home from a birthday party yesterday when we came across this gorgeous bunch of hollyhocks growing around some mail boxes. We love hollyhocks but have not been able to grow them so when I find some like this on the side of a road or in a field it is such a delight.

It was a bonus that they were right in front of a field of beautiful horses, another one of my favourites. Sometimes it is an adventure just to take a drive in the country in the summer, you never know what lies ahead.

I WON SOMETHING!

I cannot believe it. I finally won something, I have never won anything before and this is a great prize. I want to than Marilyn at Busy Martha's Blog for such a wonderful surprise. I can't wait to see everything. Here is the picture from her blog of some of the great stuff.

SIMPLE PLEASURES

The lovliest things in life are the simplest.

This morning I made buckwheat crepes with fresh strawberries and yoghurt and we ate on our lovely terrace overlooking our wild woodland

It looked so good even the frog princess wanted some.

This little bird feeder is full of water and we sit and watch the birds as well as the sqruirrels come and drink.

Listening to the relaxing trickle of water is so comforting.

And the simple pleasure of looking at the flowers you plant bursting into bloom. These are the quiet, little moments that get me through a hectic day. Just knowing I can sit here and relax, even for just a few minutes, brings such calm to my life.

A SECRET TO SHARE!

As you know, I have a little baby granddaughter now. She just turned 4 months old. Her daddy, my son did not want her watching cartoons so she would just look, fascinated at the colours on whatever was playing on the television. When she was 3 months old we were visiting and she was on her activity mat looking at the screen. My niece's kids love a show called "Backyardigans" I had seen it and it was very cute and vibrant with a little lesson at the end. I put it on that day. My grandbaby is now a Backyardigans Junkie. I say that in the nicest way. When I put it on her eyes lit up and she was glued to the screen. If she is fussy, she is teething, her mommy puts on the show, which she has now purchased on dvd, and it calms her. No matter where they are if you put it on she is calm and relaxed. It is not one of those annoying shows ( we all know those) it is lovely and very cute. This is my advice to all new parents and grandparents. Buy the dvd's, buy them now. Try it first with the television show , I do not know if it is available everywhere, but I guarantee you will not be sorry!
