SIMPLE PLEASURES

The lovliest things in life are the simplest.

This morning I made buckwheat crepes with fresh strawberries and yoghurt and we ate on our lovely terrace overlooking our wild woodland

It looked so good even the frog princess wanted some.

This little bird feeder is full of water and we sit and watch the birds as well as the sqruirrels come and drink.

Listening to the relaxing trickle of water is so comforting.

And the simple pleasure of looking at the flowers you plant bursting into bloom. These are the quiet, little moments that get me through a hectic day. Just knowing I can sit here and relax, even for just a few minutes, brings such calm to my life.

A SECRET TO SHARE!

As you know, I have a little baby granddaughter now. She just turned 4 months old. Her daddy, my son did not want her watching cartoons so she would just look, fascinated at the colours on whatever was playing on the television. When she was 3 months old we were visiting and she was on her activity mat looking at the screen. My niece's kids love a show called "Backyardigans" I had seen it and it was very cute and vibrant with a little lesson at the end. I put it on that day. My grandbaby is now a Backyardigans Junkie. I say that in the nicest way. When I put it on her eyes lit up and she was glued to the screen. If she is fussy, she is teething, her mommy puts on the show, which she has now purchased on dvd, and it calms her. No matter where they are if you put it on she is calm and relaxed. It is not one of those annoying shows ( we all know those) it is lovely and very cute. This is my advice to all new parents and grandparents. Buy the dvd's, buy them now. Try it first with the television show , I do not know if it is available everywhere, but I guarantee you will not be sorry!

BLESSED

I love living in the country.

We are fortunate to have many old barns in our farming community that are well maintained and used. The majestic beauty of an old barn still takes my breath away. The stories they hold. It makes me proud to see the farmers keeping them up and using them. It is very rare to find any in disarray, as a matter a fact I have not seen one around us yet.

The fields are blooming with wildflowers.

I am surrounded with green fields, forests and blue skies.

I truly feel blessed not only to have been raised in the country but to have brought our son up here too. Every morning I walk around our property and just watch in awe as life unfolds for another glorious day!

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING ALL!

Hope you have all had and are having a lovely holiday weekend ( Happy Independance Day to my Bloggers south of my border)
Well, we went to the Mennonite Market on Saturday. I will never do that again on a holiday weekend. Literally thousands of people! I have not been in a few years, it is close to where our daughter-in-law grew up and her family still live there. They usually go on a Tuesday but we decided to go on Saturday. It was hot and not enjoyable. I snapped a pic of these poor horses that are hooked up to a type of train like carriage. They pull people to tour the actual Mennonite Village about 10 minutes away. I felt so bad for them, I am sure they are taken care of but it was so hot.

The baby did not like the heat or the crowd so we stayed about an hour and went back to my daughter-in-laws moms home. We spent a nice evening visiting and enjoying our little darling. The ride home was lovely. We drove through Cambridge, which is a gorgeous old mill town that was built by a quarry,( many of the towns in this area are) so many homes are stone. We drove through some of the old streets and I want to show you some of these fabulous homes.

This last one has an amazing glass house, little playhouse and ponds.

Then finally our quiet road home.

OFF TO MARKET!

Today we are off to the Mennonite Market in St.Jacob's. The whole family is making a day of it. Lovely fresh produce, flowers and an amazing atmosphere. I am looking forward to a nice family day of sun, fun and good food.

Just wanted to share my latest buy. Our lovely porch we sit on in the mornings is a little close to the road. We have a lot of bike riders in the summer. I found this fab Japenese Cotton Blind at a local thrift shop and it fits perfect on the porch. Now I feel like we have a little private room but still the same great view.

Here is my darling Layla. No story I just love this picture of her. She is such a country cat and my inspiration for my Buddha Kitty which I sell in my Wicked Faerie Queen Etsy Shop.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
