WHERE BLOGGERS CREATE PARTY...WELCOME TO MY STUDIO!

I want to welcome you all to my studio. I want to thank Karen of My Desert Cottage, our hostess, for putting this wonderful party together. I am new to the blogging world and this is a wonderful way to introduce myself. Let's get started shall we.

My husband and I use to have a Reproduction Furniture Business called 13 Mockingbirds. He built his workshop first because we could not work in the basement anymore ( our farmhouse is 235 years old with a low basement). A few years later we built my studio.

I am usually working on more than one thing, I paint quite large primitive paintings, so I need a lot of space to spread out. We decided due to expensive shipping to scale down and we no longer make large furniture. I started my etsy shops "Wicked Faerie Queen" for my love of sewing and painting. I work with felt and make different pillows. I also paint little pieces of art on my boxes. I started "Lucys Garden" so we could still work with pine. We make smaller primitive pieces such as trays, candlesticks and berry boxes.

And of course, Buddha Kitty!

This is where I work most of the time. I really like the old drafting table because I can adjust the height and tilt it when I work on my paintings.

This is my little supply room. I saved these doors from a salvage yard. It looks neat but like the Great Oz, everything is behind the curtain. I love this monkey fabric, I also reupholstered the two chairs in the studio with it.

This little samplers stove was my grandmothers when she was a little girl. I also have my great grandmothers chair from when she was little. Having these pieces of the women in my family around me inspires me.

My husband built this beautiful stretcher table. I do a lot of sewing here. All of the furniture in the studio is reclaimed except for the one big blue armchair. I saved most of it from my grandmother's farm. It was stored in her barn for her shop but when the farm sold it was destined to be burned. All of the tables and chairs we redid. The big front doors were at Habitant for Humanity Restore. One was in the bin and one I bought. I stripped them down and they turned out beautiful.

The Queen and White Rabbit were from our son's Alice In Wonderland Wedding Party last summer. My husband cut them from plywood and I painted them. I love them so much I hung them in my studio for inspiration. I also have Alice and 2 Cheshire Cats in the garden.

The tour would not be complete without a quick peek at my husband's workshop. Just through this door.

My husband carved this dedication into his bench for our sweet German Shepherd Sara. She was by his side the whole summer he built his shop but we lost her that fall.
