CHRISTMAS ON THE FARM!!!!

Well, Christmas has come and gone.  It seems like every year, no matter how early you plan things, the big day just creeps up on you and before you know it  the day is done.

I don't know about everyone else but for me once the presents are gone from the tree my Christmas Spirit begins to end.

I usually post the farm decorated for Christmas much earlier but time got away from me so here we go.  This is the main kitchen.  We bought the NO PLACE LIKE HOME sign the day our little 3 year old grandson was born.

I absolutely love Christmas so I do deck out the halls.  I put up lots of twinkly white lights and candles and as many vintage ( reproduced and original) ornaments I can find.

I made the Silent Night pillow for the rocker and used one of Santa's sacks for the back.  I display all of my Grandmother's ornaments in a big wire tray and put a little tree in the middle topped with a paper star our son made when he was only 4.

I love the iron Santa and Reindeer rocker ornament, another HomeSense find years ago.  The HO HO HO candles were on the Pumpkin Cupboard this year after being in the family room for a very long time.    My Grandmother's folk art Canada Goose sits proudly on my Green Linen Press decked out with a velvet red ribbon for the holidays.

I hang the very best vintage ornaments on the bookcase , they are safe and you can see them really well.

Poor Luca spent most of the holidays in my big chair, it was all a bit too much for him.

No room in the house gets missed, even the bathroom was fully decorated.

The Cook's Kitchen was all red and white.  I like that kitchen to by very Scandinavian.  I have my little tree in a pot with a Tomte on the front ( a Value Village find) and my stuffed little Tomte kept watch.  It is a bit hard to see but I bought a gorgeous gold robin with a crown which looks so pretty with the tree.  The picture is a boat on the fjord in Norway ready for St. Lucia day.  I found the red and white cow bells this year at HomeSense, I was thrilled, I have been looking for some for a while now.

In the family room I put beautiful paper stars in each window.  The ones in the front light up.  We did have a White Christmas which was lovely.  I made the Kringles Toy Delivery sign.  I fashioned Santa after my hubby, his beard is not quite that white.

I made the cute little angel a few years ago.  I have lots of little trees in this room, each means something.  the one in the sack just has a Santa on top, it is one of my favourites.  The little tree on the table near the big star is covered with little Santa heads which are my husband's favourite ornaments.  The best little tree is the one adorned with my Grandmothers vintage ornaments from when my dad was little.

Our big tree is all decorated in miniature mice ornaments, I have collected them for a very long time.  I was going to change it this year but they are a tradition that my son loved and now my grand babies love.  Atop the tree sits, what else, Santa.

Christmas dinner was lovely, surrounded by family, lots of good food and lots of laughter and love.  Last year I found these gorgeous Sophie Conran Christmas dishes at HomeSense's Boxing Day Sale.  They are hand thrown with a simple Christmas border.  They looked so nice on the table.  I made all new Christmas Cookies this year, Icebox Cherry , Scottish Shortbread, Gingerbread Snowflakes, Double Chocolate Swirls and the favourite, Raspberry Ribbons.  I tried a new Dressing, looks beautiful in the pan but I will stick to my old stuffing next year, this was a bit bitter .

I ended the evening with a nice glass of organic eggnog from a local dairy.  A little nutmeg and a bit of the old nog and it ended a perfect Christmas.  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you have enjoyed visiting our Christmas farm.
