GIVING THANKS!

It is that time of year when we reap what we have sown. We gather around the Harvest table and give thanks to the Goddess Demeter for her generous bounty.

Here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving at the beginning of October. We are grateful for the plump pumpkins and juicy red apples that we can turn into delicous pies for Thanksgiving dinner.

It is so lovely this time of year. I like to put the pumpkins all over the yard and for Thanksgiving on the table.

I just love to have them in the house on my harvest table. The deep orange and roundness of pumpkins just symbolize fall for me.

A few years ago the weather was so warm that we had Thanksgiving dinner outside. It has turned quite windy and cool here so this year the farmhouse kitchen will do just fine.

Although I usually make pies I like this AUTUMN SPICE CAKE from Country Living Magazine. I bet it smell heavenly when it is baking.

I wish all of my fellow Canadians a Happy Thanksgiving wherever you may be I hope you have a delicious day and nice weather.

And don't forget to sign up for THE WINTER WONDERLAND GIVEAWAY at Brenda of The Rusty Thimble's Blog.

And sign up for my SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES HALLOWEEN GIVEAWAY which ends at the Witching Hour on October 13th.

  3. I wish we celebrated Thanksgiving in the U.S. at the same time... it makes so much more sense in early October than in late November! Plus it ties in better with Mabon, which I have always felt to be the "Pagan Thanksgiving." Anyway, glad you had a good holiday, and beautiful pics as usual. ;)
