HAPPY TAILS!!!!

Good afternoon fellow Bloggers!   It is a beautiful day here in Jerseyville, sun shining with a little breeze.

Now that all of the renovations are done upstairs on the farmhouse I can get back to some of my other loves...like blogging & the dog rescue (although I do work with the rescue all the time).

I have in the past sent out pleas for funds for RESCUE DOGS MATCH the small but mighty dog rescue I volunteer and do fundraising for.  I thought you might like to see our recent HAPPY TAILS.

Meet Diego, Gatsby, Monty and Leo.  These are just 4 out of around 30 of the dogs at Rescue Dogs Match but these lucky pups found loving families this week.  We are so happy and as you can see so are they.

Our next fundraising project is to take pictures of our HAPPY TAILS as they take the drive to their Forever Homes and turn them into Greeting Cards which I will design and sell on Etsy.  What do you think?

Thanks to all of you lovely Bloggers who have supported RESCUE DOGS MATCH in the past.... the pups adore you!

THE BIG CUPBOARD SHAKE UP!!!!!

First before I start the tour I want to show you my newest find.  I picked this gorgeous print up at a recent auction, it is a picture of Gypsy Horses and I love it.  Unfortunately, it poured rain that day and for some reason the auctioneer had the upholstered furniture and the paintings outside and the wooden items inside so this print was in perfect condition but you can see the water damage on the bottom thank goodness it did not touch the actual picture.  Now let's get started.

This is the cupboard that made me completely change the whole front room!  This was another one of my Grandmother's that has been stored in the workshop.  It was suppose to go upstairs in the redone bedroom but it was much bigger than we thought.  I had my sweet little pine cupboard here but it is now in the family room storing DVD's amd the DVD cupboard is in our bedroom.  When we first put this cupboard here I did not like it.  It is much bigger and stuck out like a sore thumb.  I put curtains behind the glass because I store candles, cards, holiday things and odds and ends in there and did not want it to look messy.  I liked it much better but it still did not fit in.  After three days of looking at it I changed the whole room and it is balanced now.  Luca likes it.

The desk was beside the new cupboard and looked so small so I switched it and moved the dining table to the corner, I will pull it out if we ever need it.  The large bench was in the corner it is now beside the cupboard and the height is much better suited there.

The little table did not fit beside the big cupboard anymore but I like it in the corner.  The pretty mirror and miniature paintings were my Grandmother's and look really nice around the table.

I am very happy with these rooms and amazingly it looks bigger than before.

The last thing that got changed during the bedroom redo was our son's old room.  We had of course changed it long ago enclosing the bed Scandinavian style.  I added the Faerie to the door for our little granddaughter if she ever sleeps over (she says mommie would miss her).   The cupboard my husband made for the room was on the other wall and it always looked crowded.  I moved it over, it now holds my handbag collection ( it is full!) .  The pictures were a large poster our son made in grade 2 and won the Humane Society Award at our local Fair.  I love it and held onto it for years then decided to cut it into 4 and frame them.  The high chair was our son's and the hat he wore as the Mad Hatter at his wedding party here on the farm.

I just love the changes now every room seem fresh and bright a new start for the changing Season.

TADA!!!! THE BEDROOM IS FINALLY FINISHED!

Finally after what seems like a year, our bedroom is finished.  I hung this up so every morning no matter what is ahead I remember "It's A Wonderful Life".

Our bedroom is now light and airy.  It is hard to tell but the walls are a soft white called Buttered Crumpet.  I still used my old shutters for a headboard, I love them and I had a nice surprise when I was going through the cupboards to switch them around, I found another handstitched pillow cover that went with the two red birds.  The smaller pillows are napkins from Pier 1.  Originally I wanted the old floor but when we lifted the carpet my husband had nailed the subfloor down with so many nails it was not coming up so we laid a new floor which I painted and distressed.  I was going to white wash it but I found the gorgeous lamps at HomeSense in my favourite Aqua/Teal blue so I did the floor in a Sea Blue.

Aren't they pretty?  My legs are still sore from applying the stain and wiping it off then sanding, it was one of the most straining reno jobs I have ever done.  The sweet little armour used to hold our DVD's in the family room but the cupboard we were putting up here, which I inherited from my Grandmother, would not fit up the stairs so there was a lot of cupboard shifting last week.  I will show you the downstairs tomorrow.

I had two really fabulous large blanket boxes from my grandmother that I have used on each side of the bed they look very happy now after being in the workshop for over a year.  This round bird box is an antique collar holder my grandmother kept jewellry in, I have had it since I got married.  I found these two prints at HomeSense and just had to hang them near the box.

We have had these two old green doors for a long time and never could fit them into a cupboard because they are quite  long so when I had this big open wall I knew they would look great with my favourite Gustav Klimt print in the middle.  The doors were missing a couple of pieces of glass which are frosted so I decided to fill them with my old key collection.  I wake up and see this wall at the end of the bed and it just makes me smile.

This dresser of my Grandmothers barely fit up the stairs.  It was never one of my favourites.  It had large white porcelain knobs so I replace them with old wooden ones, took the ornate piece off the back and now it is more country and I really like it.  The shelf is one of the first pieces I made, it hung in the front room but the colour balances the room so it lives here now.

I had to hang my favourite Gypsy picture.  I use her whenever I do Tarot readings she is my Talisman.

I hope you like my bedroom, I just love it.  It has taken up most of the summer but the upstairs is pretty much finished, a little tidying in the hall and it is done.  Tomorrow I will show you how the front room looks.  We did not plan on changing it but with the cupboards not fitting upstairs everything shifted but I love it....change is good, although a little exhausting!
