THE HOT NEW ACCESSORY!!!

I have always worn an apron in the kitchen, especially when baking or using oils.  If I see an interesting one, I prefer a bib apron with pockets, I will pick it up.

As a subscriber to Bon Apetit Magazine, I have noticed a trend over the past few years.  Aprons are hot!!!! Not only are servers in cool restaurants wearing gorgeous, worn looking linen or crisp soft cotton aprons but they seem to be getting more chic looking and everyone is wearing them.

The last two are from Bon Apetit, they are called French Linen Aprons and you can buy them online at Bon Apetit Magazine.

I love the different styles.  There is the typical bib apron with the front pocket that goes over you head and you tie but the one I have come to love is the criss cross in the back all in one apron.  I think they are gorgeous, no more bulky tie just slip it over your head, you could wear it all day.  As a matter of fact, I have noticed that aprons are not just for the kitchen or garden anymore.

Artisan's are wearing them too.  Potters, painters, all kinds of artists have discovered the simplistic,  functional fabulousness of the apron.

You can make you own or buy one.  There are all kinds of great aprons on Etsy, the first one here is from LinenCloud.  the Vermont Apron Company is also good , a whole site just for aprons.

As a artisan seamstress,  I will be wearing one from now on when I work in the studio.  I am always misplacing threads, needles and accessories so I am going to make a nice criss cross one with 2 big pockets.

I may also make a couple of waist aprons with big pockets.  They are also beautiful.

So jump on board , make or buy a great apron for the Spring and use it wherever you need on or just wear one they are pretty fantastic.

THE LITTLE LIBRARY!!!

I love to read books, I devour them.  I have always been a huge reader.  Since last November I am on my 24th book.

I would love to have a library room like these, fabulous.  I don't save all of my books, just the really good ones that I have read over and over.  To Kill a Mockingbird, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, anything on European history.

Most of my books I buy in thrift shops.  I like to read a variety of books.  Sometimes I want something that is just a quick, light read, sometimes it is a deep, involved book that I get lost in for hours at a time.

Because I do not keep all of my books I either donate them back to the thrift shop or give them to someone who is having a yard sale.

I saw these adorable "Little Libraries" a few years ago and now they seem to be popping up everywhere.

I have been thinking of putting one outside of the farm this summer.  An adorable little structure which would be colourful and welcoming.

The idea of the "Little Library" is to "take a book, leave a book" or "borrow and return a book".  I would probably go with the "take a book , leave a book if you have one"  I don't want back the books I have already read.

I think it would be fun to do this, maybe more people would start to read again.

I really love this ultimate "Little Library" in Europe.  My trees are not big enough for this  but I think you will see an adorable little structure in front of our house in the future.

FINALLY A LITTLE SUN!!!

Finally a little sun in Jerseyville.  We have had a lot of snow and very cold weather since we lost our beautiful Atticus 2 weeks ago.  It as been dark and gloomy which makes not having him here even harder.  Today the sun is finally shining, it is cold but at least it is bright.  Please hurry Spring!!!

TRYING TO FIND A NEW NORMAL!!!

It has been a very hard week for us here on the farm.  We lost Atticus just a week ago and we are all struggling to find a new normal.  Daisy, Rufus, Allie and Mr. Magoo do not understand why our big boy is not here, especially Daisy, he was like here pup.

I have not done any posting on any of my sites the past week.  Going into the studio is not even on my mind, I am actually a bit scared about that.  The last place Atticus and I spent the whole day together was on the Saturday before we lost him, he was by my side all day while I sewed.

I thought the best place to start my new normal was on my blog.  Valentine's Day is coming so  I wanted to share some pretty heart images with you.  These vintage hearts are so pretty.

Hearts appear everywhere in life.  Architecture, nature, art.  Wouldn't it be nice to use wax seals again, how romantic.  I love the hearts on this old home and the swings are divine.

Of course jewelry always is a big heart attraction, love the message in the locket.  Adorable shutters, I might make these for the playhouse.

We cannot forget candy!  Look at these little jewels.

Well, it is a start.  I hope someone out there is still looking at my blog.  Either way,, it gives me comfort to post, blogging is a good emotional outlet.

I wish you all a lovely day, hug your pets!
