A GLIMPSE OF THE COLOURFUL LADY!

It has been quite wet and damp here for a few days so I have not really been out much. This morning, although it has been drizzly, I went out for a little walk with the dogs. Out of the corner of my eye I glimpsed a familiar image. Lady Autumn was peeking out from behind the Maple tree. I wasn't sure at first but then she made the wind blow just enough to drop some of her slightly changing leaves from her branches. As I looked around I could see how much there is to do before she settles in for her visit. Gardens to be attended to, planters to be safely tucked away and all of that outdoor furniture to be brought up to the screened in room out of the winter weather. I am a little sad to see the summer take her leave but I welcome Lady Autumn for she brings with her crisp mornings, warm fires and a blanket of jeweled colours. I hope she stays awhile before her sister the White Goddess shows herself.

SOME LOVELY TRAVELLING BAGS

I am always impressed with the artists I discover on Etsy. I do not think there is anything you cannot find there. It is so wonderful that the old crafts are still made, such as carpet bags. I just adore carpet bags, they are so warm and comforting to look at. To think a carpet is recycled into something so useful is incredible.

No one I have seen does it better than Ant at Northern Lights on Etsy. He lives in Wales and turns old carpets into the most beautiful bags. Here are just a few, stop by and see him when you get a minute you will not be disappointed.

BOO! I'M BACK!

Feeling so much better today, no dizziness at all. Thank you everyone for your lovely get well messages. The pills I had to take made me sleep and gave me some wierd dreams, the worst was that I had completely forgot about Halloween until the night of and was so upset, so here are some more ideas. I know it is fall but it is never too early to start planning.

This is a great front entrance and you could actually use it for Fall if you take away the ravens and just add on later.

So easy, just painted and glittered pumpkins. Please be careful if you want to do the cobwebs and you have cats or even some dogs. Cats love to chew this stuff and it does not break down so it could cause some real medical damage to you pet. I suggest not putting it on tables maybe up high on shelves or cupboards.

Don't you just love this! So simple to do but looks amazing.

I just love these. I ordered the top ones today on ebay, they are from England and were under $17.00 for all of them, that included shipping! The bottom ones are from the same shop.

And cupcakes! Halloween cupcakes are the best. You can go simple and use a cool wrapper and some spooky picks or if you are a good decorator let you imagination run wild. There's nothing like a good cupcake on Halloween or anytime really. I will be doing more later on some great cake and cupcake ideas.

Stepping Off The Train

And so, September has arrived. I have said it before, but, the changing of these seasons..? Summer, she reminds me of a beautiful visitor from afar packing her bags to leave us after so many lovely months of carefree fun, laughter and dinner parties. We begged her to stay, but she has other duties elsewhere. She promises to return again next year, though a little older and wiser.

September, he has already stepped off the train and is shaking hands with everyone, smart and serious in his tailored tweed suit.

"Goodbye Summer." We wave her off with tears in the corners of our eyes. Swallowing hard, we know we must do what we must, and so resolutely attend to the tasks at hand, with September offering his punctual and necessary attendance.

I am sure I'm not the only soul who feels this way. It does not get any easier as the years go by, does it?

Happy September to all the beautiful poetic souls who may stop here to shake hands with the man in the tweed suit, and to wave Summer off on her journey.

TAKING A FEW DAYS OFF.

I have not been feeling too great this week. It started last Monday with a little dizziness in the morning that lasted around 5 to 10 minutes. By today it was very bad and I was dizzy all day and could not stand up without help. I was so worried I went to the doctor first thing ( and I do not just go to the doctor for anything). She gave me some tests and guarenteed me it was not a stroke a anything like that. She says it is my middle ear causing vertigo. It is like being on a roller coaster. I got some medication which makes me sleep but I am not quite as dizzy now. I am on my way to bed and hope I am not dizzy when I wake up. She ordered me to rest for a few days, no driving or strain, so I am catching up on my reading. I will talk to you all after the long weekend. Hope you have a good one.
