TODAY MY HEART IS BROKEN!!!

For those who know me and my family you know how much our loving pets mean to us. Today I am broken. Due to a horrible accident, we lost our sweet Atticus yesterday.

On Monday night he was distressed and bloated, at the emergency vet we were told he had a twisted stomach. Even after surgery, he did not make it through the night. He was just 5 years old.

Today, our other dogs, Daisy and Rufus, are searching for him, barking and looking. Atticus was my best buddy, he was with me in the studio when I sewed and he never left our side when we were in the yard. He was the kindest, gentlest boy in the world. We will never get over losing him.

We did not know about the "twisted stomach" that is prevalent in large chested dogs. They have a 50/50 chance of survival, the surgery is very expensive, not that it matters we would have spent anything to have him sitting her now. If you have a large chested breed, Shepherds ,Rottis, Dobermans, one of the factors that causes this is when the dog eats and then plays or runs. Please keep your dogs inactive after eating for a few hours it could save their lives.
