As I began to wake up this morning something familiar touched my face....sun! My cheek felt warm and I lay there for a few more minutes and began to dream.
I was waking up in a lovely farmhouse on the French countryside. I could hear the chickens clucking happily in the yard, I could smell the cafe brewing.
From my sundrenched bedroom window I could see the sheep watching the farmhouse waiting for me to walk in the field to greet them and then coming back to relax under the trees in the morning sun.
After a long, quiet boat ride I was back on the farm making a delicious dinner to be eaten outside with friends as the warm sun touched our faces.
Alas, I woke up and the gate closed on my French Farmhouse Dream. The sun still touched my cheek but as I looked out the window of my farmhouse the ground was blanketed with fresh snow and the sun seemed brighter as it reflected into our bedroom window. This has been a long hard winter for everyone and I hope Spring comes soon but for now I will retreat back into my French Farmhouse Dream.

LET ME BROOCH THE SUBJECT!!!
My Great Grandmother was a lover of Vintage Costume Jewellry. Now I say Vintage because now it is Vintage but most of what she wore she had bought in the 30's and 40's.
Every Sunday she went to church "Dressed to the NInes" as they used to say. The shoes matched the bag, the gloves matched the hat she was adorned by rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and of course, a brooch.
Her name was Olive, I saw this Brooch today but alas it was already sold.
I have some of her jewellry, a few brooches but unfortunately, most of it was so by my Great Uncle when she passed. I wish I had more of the brooches. She had them in every shape and size and some lovely Heart Brooches too.
As Valentine's Day approaches I find myself longing for a Vintage Heart Brooch. I can only dream of one as lovely as these two Edwardian pieces, they are of museum stock and far out of my price range.
There is something about Edwardian Jewellry, especially the Brooches. I can just see a husband or suiter going to his Jeweller weeks before Valentine's Day and having a piece commissioned like one of these beauties. Opal surrounded by Emeralds and Diamonds or a gorgeous Amethyst encased with tiny Pearls.
The elegance of The Victorian's is seen in these magnificent Double Heart Brooches. Opals seem to play a big part in Victorian Jewellry. I can just imagine a Lady opening a delicate velvet box and inside her love has gifted her with their hearts entwined and covered in sparkling Diamonds.
Oh, and the Pearls, we must not forget the Pearls. What dazzling beauty, she must have felt very special wearing one of these Double Heart Brooches to an evening of dinner and dancing on Valentine's Day.
There was a small period a few years ago that Brooches were considered an "Old Ladies" piece of jewellry. I do not think this is the case. They are back in vogue and the Vintage pieces are once again very popular, I think so anyway, by the cost of some.
I am far from "an old lady" and I will be wearing a Heart Shaped Brooch on Valentine's Day. It may not be Vintage, not yet anyway, perhaps next Valentine's Day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SPECIAL SOMEONE!!!!
Yesterday was my wonderful husband's Birthday. The poor guy had a toothache the night before and when he woke up he was as swollen as his Birthday balloons. I got him into an emergency dentist and he is on penicillin for an abscess tooth.
Swelling has gone down and he goes back next week to get the tooth fixed. What a way to start out your birthday. It all ended well with him surrounded by our family, his favourite chicken wings and his favourite Moccho Torte.
I love you honey, Happy Birthday!

NEW TAROT BAGS IN MY ETSY SHOP!!!!
I just stop by to show you my new line of TAROT BAGS in my Etsy Shop WICKED FAERIE QUEEN. I love making these. They are handstitched and a little blessing is sewn into each one.
Hope the weather is nicer where you are. Here in Southern Ontario it is freezing! It is windy and icy and my husband just informed me we may get a storm tomorrow. Holy Hannah! What is going on? I cannot remember such a horrible winter in a very long time. I don't mind the snow but it is the freezing wind and all the ice.
Keep warm!

MY NEW ETSY SHOP IS FINALLY OPEN & NAME A PUP!!!
I have been working for days photography my jewellry for MY HIPPIE HEART JEWELLRY Shop on Etsy.

RESCUE DOGS MATCH rescued these 4 adorable lab/rottweiller pups last week. The rescue is out of funds so we are having a NAME THE PUP contest. For a $5.00 donation you can name 2 pups and a winner will be picked when we raise enough money for vetting. There are 2 girls and 2 boys. Go to this NAME THE PUP LINK if you would like to help.
