OH THE BLISS OF THE SUN!!!!!!!

 The weather was beautiful here on the farm last week.  I look forward every year to the first day I can sit outside with a cup of coffee and read my British Country Living....just heaven.

I planted my porch Herb Garden.  Everything is coming along great.  My pots have seen the worse for wear so I picked up these pretty yellow and red ones at HomeSense I love the pressed medallions.

My heirloom tomatoes are very slow and some did not germinate but I am crossing my fingers that the 28 that are left are hardy.  I am planting a lot of veggies this year.  I will show you my bathtub full of spinach and lettuce as it grow.  If I could put dirt in it I am growing veggies in it.

I got this fountain out of someones garbage!  It has been mended but it works perfectly.  I adore this sign another thrift shop find.  Our newest addition, Alley, is still a bit camera shy but she is really happy here.

My newest little passion is for tin cups.  I found these by The Thoughtful Gardener at HomeSense.  They were only $5.99 each and on the British website they are almost $12.00 each plus shipping.  I just love them for the garden, no fear of breaking.

It is so wonderful to see everything budding and green.  I hope the summer is warm and welcoming.  We had this lovely weather last week this week it is kind of cool.  Oh well at least it is not snow.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

MEET THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE PACK......ALLEY!!!!!!!

Good afternoon everyone.  It is another nice day here on the farm, lots to do in the garden today so this is a little post of introduction.

Meet Alley!  My husband's brother sadly passed away at a young age after a brave battle at the beginning of the year.  He was a great guy and we miss him dearly.

Ed had 3 loves of his life, his family, his huge workshop and his dogs.  The last dog he had was little Alley.  She was named that because there was an alley behind his shop.

When he died, the family did not know what to do with Alley because they did not want her in the house.  We had spoken to Ed about her before he passed and assured him she would be taken care of.

As you know I volunteer for RESCUE DOGS MATCH so when Ed lost his life, the plan was to take Alley in our home as a foster until we could find her the perfect home.  Having Atticus, Rufus and Daisy and 3 cats already it would be insane to have another dog........well, lock me up, after having Alley here for a month my husband just could not let her go so she is now the smallest, and loudest member of the pack.

She never had a lot of space to run in so she is in doggie heaven on the farm.

As you can see she is a bit of a ham in our grandson's hat.  I will do another post soon on her and her crew.

DOGS, DOGS, DOGS .....SO MANY DOGS!!!!!!

We had our annual Girls Night Out Fundrasier a couple of weekends ago for RESCUE DOGS MATCH.

 We held the event at the Troy Women's Institute Hall in the Old Schoolhouse in Troy.  It was built in 1878 and was a lovely old place with lots of atmosphere.

We had Tarot Readers and Reiki practitioners volunteer their time and some lovely vendors came too.

We had fabulous Raffle Prizes donated this year.  Great baskets filled with goodies, Keurig coffee maker, doggie bags, Tarot certificates, handbags beauty products, one lovely person even donated a whole box of ribbons and tissue paper from Hallmark!  Thanks Terri.

We sold coffee and tea and I went a little crazy with the baking.  I made giant Chocolate Chip Cookies and Red Velvet Cookies ( my granddaughter loved the big cookies), Banana, Chocolate, Vanilla, Carrot/Pecan and Lemon Cake.  There was a lot left but it did not go to waste.

We had an amazing information table for the dogs.  I did not get a picture but one of the volunteers, Brenda, made a great slide show video of the dogs and it played all night on a big T.V.  I designed the Charlie Chaplin poster and made magnets of the same design for the night.  We had dog soaps and dog necklaces and a basket of goodies anyone could help themselves to for a small donation.  Our newest addition is Rover the Rescue Dog, he loves to eat loose change.

A wonderful local Balloon Artist, Antoon, donated these incredible bouquets.  They brought some whimsy to the event, everyone loved them.

Everyone had a great time, the weather was fantastic and we raised $1,200.00 for the dogs.  This is, of course, just a drop in the bucket.  The Rescue now has more that 50 dogs in Foster Homes and more waiting so I have started a donation drive on  GO FUND ME.  If you want to help even in a small way you can go there to donate and help us reach our goal.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers who manned the kitchen, front desk, info table, and made sure everyone got their Reiki and Readings...you were all great.

Thanks to my daughter-in-law, Natasha for once again selling all those Raffle tickets.
