HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE!

I have a question for all of my fellow bloggers who have shops and ship items. I just got back from shipping one of my Buddha Kitties. She fit into a regular envelope ( she was securely wrapped of course) and she went from Ontario, Canada to South Carolina. She cost $5.85 to ship ( I had charged $3.75 so lost money) What I cannot figure out and the post office has not explanation for (everything is computerized for cost ) is why does it cost the same to ship a tiny package with no weight as it does to ship one of my boxes or one of my shelf sitters? Shipping is so depressing. I never know what the cost will be and I find it difficult for listing prices. I do not charge a lot for my art but the shipping is sometimes as much as one of my pieces ( from Lucys Garden which is pine). Does anyone else find this a problem, I would really like to hear from you. Other than that I hope you all have a lovely day and thanks for the nice comments about Buddha Kitty.

  1. My post office told me size was more important than weight. A different machine has to be used for big envelopes. I always try to use the smallest box possible. I'm thinking of trying the flat rate boxes. For a while the post office was giving away boxes, I don't know if they're still doing it. Hope this helps.
