PUPPIES! AND A GIVEAWAY!

No, I am not giving away puppies. You all know that over that past 3 months we have lost our two beloved dogs, Duffy and Penny, and how I said I would not be ready for anymore dogs until Spring 2013, well I am weakening.

I was visiting my sister yesterday and her neighbour came over with his new 7 week old Siberian puppy named Bell. Oh she was so cute. Tiny with a little black mask just like a baby raccoon. My heart began to ache for my sweet babies.

Although when we do get two more dogs we will be adopting an older dog and a puppy, I miss that puppy smell and the squirrming little bodies when you pick them up.

The hardest thing is choosing a new family member. I always feel so bad for those left behind. I do not look forward to going to the shelter but I believe that those are the pets most in need and there are always dog and cats of every age, shape and size waiting to go home with you.

So, I do not know if I can hold out for another year. If I see a few more of these adorable faces I think I will be showing you all a couple of new members of our family a lot sooner.

And don't forget to enter my 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY GIVEAWAY drawn on April 12th. Just go to the post and follow the instructions.

Drop by LUCYS GARDEN today too, my post is on the beautiful Lilac.

  2. Ohhhhh, aren't they all so sweet!!!! You will know when the time is right. I know the feeling. I always feel bad that I can't give ALL of them a home. All our fur babies have been adopted from the boxer rescue. Sophie was the only puppy (six months) that we adopted. Hannah was 3 and Kodak 1 when we adopted them. I would also adopt a senior, 8 plus, in a heartbeat but I couldn't right after losing Hannah and Kodak so close together as I know boxers generally don't have long lives and my heart couldn't take another break so soon.

  3. Oh they are all so darling. One of our daughters had Golden Retrievers for years and of course, they aged, got sick and pasted away. They were big dogs. We loved them. They now have Westies and what a difference. Our daughter and her family hope they live many many years. It is such a tragedy to lose them.
    Happy adopting.

  4. Oh, how can anyone resist those sweet little faces and those beautiful eyes? The wiggly bodies and the puppy breath. It's the best breath ever. My son thinks I'm nuts when I say that, but brand new puppy breath is sweet and adorable. I really do miss my two, also. Now we have four kitties and hubby says: "Um, enough for now, honey." So... maybe when we're in the country finally and have more room. :D And I agree with you, it's so difficult to get them from a shelter because you have to leave some behind, but it's the best place to get them. All of my animals have been rescue animals or tossed out animals. Two quite literally. One, my Lexi Bird who was a Lab mix was tossed from a moving car right into my legs on a busy street. I couldn't believe it. She was a wonderful dog. The other (a guinea pig) was found in a trash can outside of a factory. What the heck? Thank goodness my friend's husband heard a funny noise and checked it out.

I feel for you. I know how much you must miss your furry family members. Hugs to you and I'll be checking in to see if you end up adopting any fur babies sooner than next year.

Brightest blessings to you and yours,
    Bird

  5. My husband loves the smell of puppy breath too. We lost our dog a few months ago but we never got another one because we do have two other dogs. They were all 3 rescued and 2sisters with one brother. We lost one of the females so I have a boy and a girl left. We had Chewy for a great 3 years. I don't think I will ever forget her. It's ok to want another pet , you just want to give love and receive it back. Thanks or the sweet pictures of puppies, makes me want a puppy lol.

  6. I know what you mean about choosing another dog to add to the family. It's definitely the right thing to do to go and adopt a shelter dog or cat. I'm excited to see who you choose for your two new babies.
    Hugs,
    Susan

  7. Oooooh so cute. It's hard to resist. We are kitties people here in our household ... but don't get me wrong love those dogs also. Every one of our 4 kitties were adopted. Our pets stores help people meet up with cats that have no home and we feel the same as you, it's been a true gift and we wouldn't change any of our furry family for anything. Sending all those love positive energies your way to help you when you feel blue.

Hugs and Happiness to all !

  8. Oh you are just like us. We said we would wait after our elderly beagle died last May. We lasted until August, telling ourselves that the beagle that was left behind needed a companion!
We still miss the dogs that have gone before, but you learn to think more of the happy times you shared.

  9. The pain of the loss is so deep and you believe you will never stop hurting. Although a part of your heart goes with them, it also makes room for all the ones that are still looking for the love that you can give them.
