RUFUS...RIGHT AT HOME!

Well, Rufus is officially a member of our family. This beautiful boy has met our son and daughter-in-law and lovely baby girl and they love him and he adores our little granddaughter.

The three cats have accepted him although I think Luca is reverting back to his baby ways for attention.

As you can see he made himself right at home on my kitchen chair. He was so comfy I did not have the heart to make him go down so there is a blanket on the chair now.

Rufus is a lovely, happy boy and even after one weekend it is like he has always been a part of our family. I am sure that Duffy and Penny would approve.

Here is his story. The girl who had him and his companion as puppies lived in an apartment and kept them in a large carrier when she was not home. The landlord made her get rid of them because he felt they were too big to stay in a tiny apartment. She posted them on Kijiji and a man took them and for some reason let the go a few days later. Thank goodness they stayed together and our SPCA found them. The female was adopted right away ( she was white in colour and Rufus being a black coated dog did not get adopted because black dogs and cats are the last to get adopted which I really do not understand) anyway, he was sent to the Rescue Pets Match in Cambridge and fostered. The Rescue put him on Kijiji, like many Rescues do, and I found him. He has now got a forever family and home. I know that many of my fellow bloggers also adopt and I highly urge you all to do so because not only do you give a wonderful home to a wonderful pet but they give you back so much more.

I want to thank all of you for following me on my journey these past few months with the loss of my two loves, Duffy and Penny to my finding our boy Rufus. There will be another furry baby down the road to join Rufus I don't know when but I do know that when I see him or her I will know that they are the one I have been waiting for.

Drop by LUCYS GARDEN today and see the results of my first attempt at making Macaroons.

  1. Rufus is so beautiful. He's sooooo pretty. I can't understand why black dogs and cats do not get adopted as quickly as other animals with different colored coats. That doesn't make any sense to me either.

He's just beautiful. I'm so happy you have a wonderful new fur baby and all the other fur babies love him too and all his new people family love him. How couldn't they? Just look at him! I want a Rufus now, too.

Bliss, love and harmony to you and yours,
    Bird

  2. Rufus is a gorgeous guy! I'd have taken him home in a heartbeat. I'm so happy you found him. In my adult life, I have adopted three black dogs--all lab mixes--and I, too, have never understood why black dogs and cats are the last to be taken. They're the first ones I look for! All of mine have been simply wonderful pets. I know Rufus will love having such a caring family. Hope you'll stop by onceuponafirefly.blogspot.com to see photos of my black dog, Barney.

  3. He is indeed beautiful ... but more importantly he looks like such a sweet soul and it sounds like he is. We have four cats and will always have a black cat ... oh, and it's nice to know that perhaps someday when we live in a better climate that we can incorporate a couple of dogs ... I was afraid our kitties would be to frightened.

    Happiness to all.

  6. You remind me of us! When we got new sofas we said the dogs wouldn't be allowed on them, I think that rule lasted about a month, lol.
I didn't know that black dogs and cats were the last to be adopted. Our first dog was black and she was perfect.

  9. I am so happy to here that Rufus has a loving forever home. I am a softy for these poor animals that have been bounced around.

FWIW, we've had dogs with straight shorter coats and dogs with silky wavy fur like Rufus and have always found the silky ones to shed far less.

And we used to have a horse named Rufus! Good name!

Congrats on the new family member!

  11. Rufus has found his forever home! I know your heartache losing your Duffy and Penny but Rufus will help to put that smile back on your face. Your heart knew that he was the one for you or you wouldn't have been lead straight to this special boy.

  12. Ooooooohhhhh! Love your new blog look. Very beautiful.

Look at that adorable Rufus. Sue, he is so sweet I just want to hold his head between my palms and kiss his cheeks while I ruffle his ears. I love that image of Luca. Too funny. I am so glad the cats are accepting him as well. And what is up with the discrimination of the black cats and dogs??? My sister and I were talking about that just the other day and we were both appalled. People never fail to make me shake my head in wonder and not that good kind either. ;-)

May you have many beautiful new memories to make with your family addition. Hugs, Mina
