SURPRISE...IT'S A GIRL!

I told you the other day that I would have some news today and here it is. This is Dixie a lovely girl who has come to us from the RESCUE DOGS MATCH, the same wonderful people who brought us our sweet Rufus.

We were not going to bring another furry baby into our family until later this summer but when I saw this beautiful face and heard her story I thought she would be a perfect companion for Rufus and a perfect addition to our family.

When Rufus met her it was love at first sight. She is a little bigger than he is, she is part Great Pyrenees and part Retriever. The older couple who surrendered her did not want to let her go but she just got too big for them to handle. She was on a farm but had some cow issues, she was afraid of them. Our cattle beside us should be okay for her because we have a solid wood fence along the property.

She is 1 1/2 years old and a big girl. Rufus and her played on the porch and when she got a little rough he ran and sat with me, big baby. We are keeping her on the leash until she get used the the property but I am sure she will be just fine.

She has seen the cats and they have seen her but not up close. That can wait. We have been told that she does like cats. She seemed indifferent which is a good thing, she did not want to chase them. Luca just stares at her wondering, I am sure, if this giant is staying.

She is a pretty happy girl and although it will take a while for her to know her new family and new home I am sure she will love it here.

I want to thank the wonderful women I have met at RESCUE DOGS MATCH which works out of Cambridge, Ontario, although they bring in dogs from all over and adopt dogs to many areas. These ladies, Brenda and Jan and their many volunteers, work tirelessly for these dogs. No case is turned away and they have a pretty good adoption success. Thank goodness for people like them. I also want to give a special thank you to Kelly who worked with Dixie and her owners to make the transition a little easier. You have have solid hearts of gold as far as we are concerned. We thank you and Rufus thanks you.

Anyone who lives in our part of Ontario and who wants to open their hearts and their homes to a loving dog go to the RESCUE DOGS MATCH website and contact them. Opt to adopt, you will feel such joy for giving a home to a grateful dog in need and the love returned is unmatchable.
