TINY HOUSES, BOTTLE BRUSH TREES AND REINDEER!

It is so nice when everything old becomes new again. When I was little my grandparents had some wonderful Christmas decorations. I was fortunate enough have become the keeper of them for hopefully generations to come. Some of my favourites got lost or broken over the years before I got them. What I wish I had are the Bottle Brush Christmas Trees, the tiny Christmas Houses and the Celluloid reindeer.

I have one reindeer. I do not know what happened to the rest. There used to be a whole set with Santa in his sled that sat on the dining table. I cherish my one lone reindeer even with his broken antler.

None of the bottle brush trees made it. I loved them, tiny little jewels sitting on the cupboards or tucked away on a table. My grandmother had some lovely ones encrusted with tiny ornaments that looked like jewels to me.

I would love to have a whole collection of bottle brush trees.  A little forest glistening with snow.

When I was shopping in HomeSense last week, I saw they had brought out a lovely collection of these little houses. I have seen them before but usually a modern, larger version. HomeSense had adorable little ones that were in the pastel shades and the snow looked just like the old ones.

There is a special place in my heart for that little reindeer and the few houses I possess but it is nice to see the old decorations coming back and looking just like they did way back then. I will buy some of the newer versions because I still have the same memories when I look at them sitting with the tiny reindeer with the broken antler.

  4. I've always loved those Putz houses and bottle brush trees as well but unfortunately I don't have any that belonged to my gran or mom. So, I've gone on eBay and have purchased a few from there:-) Like you, they bring back so many memories. Home Sense is my favourite store and when I was there just the other day, I noticed they had some smaller version of the Putz houses...I have 5 of the medium size ones which I had bought a couple of years ago. Can't wait to set up my village again:-) xox

  5. I got a few (3 LOL) bottle brush trees at a garage sale a couple of years ago. I just love them (one is even pink) but my daughters don't understand my sentiment for them. KIDS!! Sometimes I wonder if they're the same ones that I raised, cause surely some of my decorating flair would've rubbed off onto them.

  6. I agree with you about the older decorations, they seem to evoke the feeling of Christmas that I had as a child.

  7. I love these brush trees, but I haven't really seen any such pointed brushes around over here. I don't know if it's ever even been a thing in Sweden back in the day. Must keep my eyes open!

  9. I love all of your holiday things, they are all very beautiful. The christmas trees are awesome, and they are all so very different. We all have those special memories of Christmas's from our childhood.
Thank you for sharing your photos. I live in Michigan, no snow yet, but Christmas is on the radio and in the air.

  10. These are so lovely! I've been collecting the Villages but not the small pieces to go with them! I have to set mine way up high on the window ledge as the kids want to play with them too much! Maybe that's what they're supposed to be for? I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit selfish with mine!
