CHARMED, I'M SURE!!!!!!
Charm bracelets have been around forever. They were used for many different reasons, love, family, travel and just for fashion.
Charm bracelets went out of vogue for a bit in the 80's and 90's but they are coming back with a vengance! Vintage or brand new the charm bracelet is back.
Hearts have always been big with charm bracelets. This is a lovely selection.
Travel charm bracelets are probably the most popular. I don't think there use to be anywhere you went, every gift shop, restaurant and gas stations sold charms.
Even celebrities were not immume to the charm bracelet allure. These are just 4 of Elizabeth Taylor's collection....gorgeous!
I always discover something new when I am researching for my blog. This time it is theatre tokens. I had no idea what these were. Apparently they used to put a metal token for an opera or play on your seat to reserve it with the name of the production, so fabulour, I want some now. Many patrons made them into charm bracelets or, as Edith Head the famous costume designer did, a necklace.
Some charm bracelets are uniquely made just for the wearer. What a nice way to use lockets on that first bracelet. An animal love would compile a collection like these wonderful little dogs or a coin bracelet woudl be compiled from coins collected from someones travels. The last one is a nice way to show off some lovely enamel charms.
The sweet little charms that make up a charm bracelet are just so adorable sometimes. I love antique charms, they really do not make them like this anymore. A charm from the Victorian Era was so detailed, like little jewels. Look at that adorable egg cup and I would love the cauldron. The goldfish bowl is amazing and what a great way to show off some pictures or your children's photos like that 4 way heart. The bird is to die for.
No matter how you display your charms, on a tradition bracelet or repurpose them onto a necklace, the Charmed Days are back!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.....HAPPY, HAPPY!!!
Spring is coming, I can feel it! Even though the ground is covered with snow here I just can feel Spring is right around the corner. I get very happy and upbeat in Spring, which I am today, so I know it is coming.
Just a few little things today.
My lovely daughter-in-law has been working very hard on her Etsy Shop with these fabulous DreamCatchers. Each one has so much detail and they are all unique. This new one is called GYPSY DREAMER.
And this one I absolutely love! It is called MAZZY. They are so reasonably priced too! Please spread the word for me she has just started her shop it is called FEATHER AND SKY so pop over and have a look and make her shop a FAVOURITE.
If you follow my blog you know I am a bit THRIFTER. I found the find of my Thrifting carreer yesterday. I never buy boots at Value Village mostly because they are not my size or style. I like my boots on the quirky side. These caught my eye. They are made by A.S.98 which I was not familiar with (boy, I am now!) They were buttery soft, wrapped around the front with cool gromits and zipped up the inside and never worn. Priced at $14.00 plus I had a 30% off coupon. I bought them and came home and checked them out on the computer. A.S.98 is an company in Italy that makes the most fabulous unique boots I have ever seen. These ones I found in several shops and on FREE PEOPLE listed for $535. U.S. that if around $716.00 Canadian! I called my daughter-in-law and she knew right away what they were she has been a fan of A.S.98 for a while.
Well, needless to say my Thrifting carreer just hit it's peak, I thought finding an Italian Espresso Machine for under $10 was a find but this is my big find.
So check out your local thrift stores you never know what little gems you may find. HAPPY THURSDAY & HAPPY THRIFTING.

NEVER THROW IT AWAY!!!!!
I am always repurposing things. I am not a pack rat, I do purge a couple of times a year but never, ever anything that is old.
When my grandmother passed away, she was the antiques dealer, I took a lot of her pieces she had stored in barns and the chicken coop that were broken and would have been burned and over the years I have found a use for them in one way or another. Like drawers. Have you ever noticed how beautiful an antique drawer is? Just the other day I remembered I had one that had flowers carved in the front and was worn with a light green paint. I brought it inot the kitchen and now it holds my dinner plates. Drawers have a multitude of purposes, I never thought of making a lamp but I may just do that.
Old chairs are another thing I have plenty of, I cannot resist a worn out chair. Love the doggie bowls great idea for older or big dogs. Guess what those white chairs were, go on you will never guess.
Those are repurposed from an old crib, can you imagine. Go to CUSTOM MADE to see more about them.
Windows and doors make great shelves, mirrors and frames and so much more. I have always loved the look of a window above a hallway entrance and this one is fabulous. What a great way to use an old door this would fit anywhere.
Old kitchenware is always in yard sales and thrift shops. From now on don't pass it by look at it as what it could be like loaf pans made into a cool kitchen holder or dessert tray, metal buckets as lamps or utiensils as hooks and handles. Stop by ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN to see more ideas.
Farm pieces make the most amazing things. I have an old animal trough as a table in my studio and boy would I love to find a set of chicken roosts for shelves, never seen them here. I have always wanted the metal water bins for my garden but I cannot find old ones and the new ones are really expensive, love the idea of using one for a table think of the storage.
Last let's have a look at old license plates. This took a bit of digging I am sure but what a cool idea.
So the next time you are thrifting, antiquing or just going through your old stuff, have a second look their may be a repurposed treasure there.
