MY FAVOURITE THINGS

It is a beautiful sunny, fresh morning. As I sit on my front porch having my coffee (fighting off my dog Penny, she loves the smell of coffee) I realize that most of my favourite things are connected to generations of my family.

The block print my grandmother gave me for a birthday gift. I look at this everyday and know that when there are some down times inside me I have wings and can fly.

RAINY SATURDAY!

Had a wonderful day yesterday with our daughter-in-law and sweet grandbaby. Fabulous day until the drive home later at night when we were stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours due to highway constuction which consisted of two trucks and four workers having coffee and cigerettes as furious drivers finally got by.( It went for 5 lanes to 1 what a nightmare!) Rather dull today but one must persevere. I have visited some lovely blogs this week, it always amazes me the talent people have with their home decorating and their blog creations. Hopefully we do not have a mail strike, if so my etsy shop will be down for a bit. Fingers crossed.

A BEAUTIFUL SUNSET!

What a lovely day today! Weather was perfect and I got to do one of the things I love the most, spend time with my pets and work in the garden. Finished the pots ( I fill them with impatients they always give a good show). Transplanted a little. I still have 12 tomato plants I must put somewhere. I have been visiting some Scandinavian Blogs ( I am Norwegian) and wow they are so lovely and white, I love white. You should have a look, they are on my blogroll. Back to the garden. At the end of a satisfying day I sat back and watched the sunset on my hard work. Does life get any better?

A NEW DAY, A NEW LOOK!

Hot day yesterday. Did not get much done but I gave my blog a new look and added some stuff.

I love picture frames so I pick them up wherever I find them. If I get old, lovely ones I leave the finish as is but with new ones I find if you paint them all one or two colours it does not matter whether they have a modern look or a vintage look they blend and make the wall pop. When our son got married and we had the "Alice In Wonderland" party, instead of putting out photo albums I filled one wall of my studio with the wedding pictures, it was easier for everyone to look at. If you want a cool decorating idea, find some old shutters, it does not matter the condition, the rougher the better, and put them in a corner as a backdrop for a nice chair or desk. I also used them as a headboard.

LAZY, HAZY DAYS OF SUMMER, ALMOST!

It's going to be a scorcher here today, not that I'm complaining. After all the rain it will be nice to have things dry up. I do wish we could find a happy medium with our weather, wet or hot there is no nice warm, breezy days yet. I love the early mornings here though, sitting on the back porch overlooking our property with all of the animals and birds starting their day, it is breathtaking. Sometimes we don't hear anything else for a while, no cars, no voices and it seems like we are in the middle of paradise all by ourselves. I hope you all have an incredibly beautiful day wherever you are.

WORKED ALL WEEKEND FINALLY DONE!

Busy weekend! I want to thank all of you who visited my blog on "Welcome Wagon Friday" and welcome to my new followers. Thanks to Brenda at "Cozy Little House" blog for featuring me on Friday. Well, I have been busy all weekend working on a new line of Reclaimed Shabby Chic Candlesticks. We try to get reclaimed architectual pieces whenever we can and reuse them ( some even make to my etsy shop) I do tend to fall in love with the old things when I find them. These fabulous stair spindles are from a farmhouse that was over 150 years old and met with the wrecking ball. We saved them and have had them for quite some time thinking we might incorporate them in our home. There are not many so I thought they would make great candlesticks. They will be on Lucys Garden today. I am working in the studio now, even with the rain, but yesterday was lovely and I got to open the french doors. The flamingos are a left over from the Alice In Wonderland party last summer and they look so happy there I did not have the heart to put them away.
